Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park
Lena, Il
“PART ONE”
We left Prairie Rose State Park, Harlan, IA, on Wednesday, 8/22. After a quick stop at the dump station and another stop for fuel, we headed east on I-80 to Davenport, IA. Last year about this time we stayed at Summit Campground
which is located in a county park named West Lake Park. It was recommended by our RV friends, Jim and Linda. We liked it so much we decided to stop there again. I was hoping to get the same site as last year and happily it was available, so we took it. Here’s our site, #115.
That’s our rig way down the road in the middle of the picture. Note all the empty sites.

The site has 30 amp electric and water for $18 per night. They don’t take reservations, and it does get somewhat busier on the weekends.
The RV dump station…
and the restroom/shower house.
The site next to us was available…
as were many sites on this Wednesday night.
West Lake Park has recycle bins for our recycling pleasure.
We did take advantage of them too!
After getting setup, we headed into town to Steak and Shake, one of our favorites, but not always available where we are. We both had the Frisco Melt. Terri had fries and I “upgraded” to onion rings.
Terri had a dark chocolate milkshake with chocolate chips and I had a chocolate milkshake. In retrospect, I should have gotten a dark chocolate shake too. They were both tasty, but I liked the dark chocolate better.
After we finished our delicious dinner we went home and I watched the Bristol NASCAR truck race.
The next day, Thursday, 8/23, we pulled out and headed up to Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park near Lena, IL.
We parked in site #130 with 50 amp electric for $20 per night. There’s no water available at the sites, so we took on water before moving in to our spot.
Here’s a look down the street at all the empty sites.
The rest of the week will be recapped in “Part Two” which I hope to have completed soon………
Tomorrow, Friday, 8/31, we’re going to be having lunch with some fellow RV-DREAMERS who are staying near us (about 1.5 hours south) this Labor Day weekend.
Now I wonder who that might be…
Wow, are you chasing all the other campers away? :) Nice to have the park to yourself for awhile!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the other RV Dreamers..I have an idea ;-)
I have no idea who that might be. :)
ReplyDeletemmmmm those milk shakes look SO good!! I just love how campgrounds seem to be so empty mid week. It's wonderful!! Great suspense here about the meet up. I can't remember who is in your area so you've got me. And now I have to wait to find out. I'm not so good at waiting. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you are back on the road again. You were in one place for so long I was wondering if you remembered which end of your trailer to hitch up to. ;c)
ReplyDeleteWe love Steak and Shake, too. Good thing for our waistlines they are few and far between. It would be way too easy to overload our CCC if there were more of them around!
Nice campgrounds and we love when we find them EMPTY!!! It is so good to hear about your travels. We know you have to be enjoying this new found freedom!!! We have no idea but we know it will be fun:o)))
ReplyDeleteI just love empty campgrounds! Wish they were all that way :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Labor Day Weekend and a very nice lunch :)
We had lunch with some fellow dreamers today at White Pines State Park. Great folks, hope to see them down the road again.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe
I'm so glad you're on the move. I have no idea who's in that area, can't wait to find out.
ReplyDeleteHave fun, safe travels.
