Hibernation and BBQ for lunch

Deer Run RV Park

Troy, AL

We’ve been here now for about three and a half months.  The time seems to have flown by even though we aren’t really doing very much around here.  It’s almost like we’re in a modified state of hibernation.  The bad thing about this is that it’s very easy to become “stagnate” and “boring.”  It seems like all we do is eat, sleep, laundry, watch TV, read, surf the net, take walks, and go to Walmart.  Oh and Terri’s been doing some crafts too.  Hopefully we’ll be breaking out of this funk soon.

We did go out for lunch last Thursday with a couple, Robert and Becky, that we met here at the campground.  They highly recommended Hook’s Barbeque in Troy.

Terri and I both got ribs, and they were delicious!  The beans were really good too.  Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the food or our new friends Robert and Becky.  They’ve been fulltimers since 2007.  It was fun talking with them and getting to know them better.

It seems like there was something else, but I just can’t seem to remember… Confused smile

  1. I see nothing wrong with hibernating....there will be plenty of time to explore when the weather gets fabulous.

  2. Yup. Isn't it a wonderful life? You'll eventually get around to doing something...and then it'll be over for awhile :)

  3. The three months we were in Kentucky was like hibernating, except we got out everyday to go to work at Amazon. It was work eat and sleep for three months. I think I would take the semi state of hibernation over working any day.

It is hard to write the blog if we are not moving, and even then since we don't always do something that we think is blog material every week.

  5. Hiernating is what we're supposed to do in the winter it seems to me. So in some ways, always being where it is warm deprives us of those natural rhythms of winter sleep, spring wake up, summer full out, autumn slow down.

  6. Sounds wonderful to us! Can't wait until we can do the same thing.

  8. Mike and I remember Hook's. Always good food there. Our plans changed again and we are leaving to go home to NY on Sunday, March 4. We have a nice window of about 5-6 days of calm weather and since gasoline is rising each day, we need to head home now before we haven't enough $$ to get there later on in April as we originally planned. Hope you have a safe trip to GA and in your future travels and PLEASE stay in touch with us. Best, Sue & Mike Patterson
