Hardeeville RV

Hardeeville, SC

Saturday morning, 12/29, I walked out to the beach.  I just missed seeing the beach at high tide, but the tide was still pretty high in comparison to yesterday.  This is looking south…

and this is north.

This is the sign for the “submerged groin” shown in the picture just above.

If you don’t know what a “groin” is, I explained it in the last blog entry.  There was a weather front heading out to sea this morning, and the waters were quite rough.

We did get some rain overnight, but it had stopped by early morning and was on the way out.

We would have liked to have stayed longer at Hunting Island, but when I reserved the site it was the last one available and only available for Thursday and Friday nights.  So we packed up and pulled out.  I avoided a lot of trouble getting out of our site by proceeding the wrong way on our loop.  Embarrassed smile  We were only less than a hundred yards from the beginning of the loop and that allowed me to avoid having to deal with many trees while exiting our site as well as all the trees along the loop.  We had about a 65-minute drive to Hardeeville RV just south of Hardeeville, SC, arriving just after noon.

Hardeeville RV is a Passport America park.

The P.A. rate is just $21 per night for full hookups including WIFI and cable.  The rate is for unlimited nights except in March and April.  There’s a clear view of the southern sky, so I was able to get the satellite dish set up too.  We’re close to the road, but we’ve gotten used to traffic noise so that’s not an issue.  Some of the sites, including ours, are very long.  There’s room for at least two more vehicles on our site!

We’re just a short drive from Hardeeville, SC, and Savannah, GA.  We’re also very close to the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge.  We’re planning on going into Savannah and explore while we’re here.

We spent a nice quiet New Year’s Eve at home.  Terri slept much of the evening, however I did wake her up in time to see the ball drop in Times Square.  This morning we watched the Rose Parade, and we had a nice turkey dinner later.

Yesterday was our two-year anniversary of our “retirement” from our jobs.  It sure doesn’t seem like it’s been two years! Smile

  3. We've stayed there a couple of times. Passport America is really a no-brainer.

  4. 65 minute drive? That's not even enough time for Terri to listen all the way thru one of her Donnie Osmund CDs!

Congrats on hitting the two year mark. You sure look like you're having a ball. Looking forward to seeing what you two "Youngsters" do in 2013. ;c0

  11. Looks like you found a nice, convenient location for exploring the area. We're going to look into this place not just as a place to stay, but as a possible storage spot for later this year.
